To the S.W. corner of the castron a large mosque, appropriated to the serai, stands upon the site of the most ancient church of Ioannina (dedicated to st. Michael). Near it a large tomb of the wife of Ali and mother of Mouchtar Pasha. From this mosque and through many miserable narrow lanes one reaches the mosque of Hassan Pasha, on the edge of the N.E. precipice. Formely at this site was the church of St. John.
